Expressions of Interest
Ten Days on the Island is looking for suitably qualified and experienced people to serve as Board Directors and/or members of Board Committees. There are currently two vacancies for Directors and other positions may become available in the next 12 months.
The Board meets at least every two months and rotates its meetings around the state. There is no sitting fee but travel, accommodation and catering are provided as required.
All Board Directors also serve on ad hoc working groups and Committees, of which there are three – Finance, Risk & Audit, Governance & Nominations, and Partnerships & Audience Development – and which usually meet online.
Ten Days on the Island is a Company Limited by Guarantee and the Board’s functions and powers, outlined in the Constitution, include but are not limited to:
- provide the framework for the organisation and staging of a statewide cultural festival in Tasmania of national significance;
- solicit, receive and deliver grants associated with the provision of such a festival and to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial and other transactions;
- assist in the provision of opportunities for Tasmanian artists and companies to present their works to a wider audience and in the provision of opportunities for the Tasmanian community to be exposed to national and international artists and companies of the highest quality;
- assist in providing the state of Tasmania with a legacy of expert professional arts infrastructure; and
- issue appeals and undertake activities of a commercial character for the purpose of raising funds for carrying out the objects of the Corporation or to promote or further any of its charitable purposes.
Candidates with high level skills and experience in the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply, with the Board particularly keen to enhance its capacity through:
- substantial knowledge of the arts, festivals and/or events and evident capacity to apply this to the strategic vision and priorities of Ten Days on the Island;
- high level expertise and experience in governance, legal or cyber with evident understanding of how to apply that knowledge in the professional arts and events context; and
- significant expertise and a strong network of contacts in state and local government.
Your expression of interest should address at least one of the specific skill and experience areas and include a brief CV.
