Every part of Australia is, always was and always will be, Aboriginal land. As a community gathering-place, a festival of arts, cultural exchange and celebration and as a site for the sharing of ideas and stories, Ten Days on the Island pays respect to the palawa – original owners and cultural custodians - of all the lands and waters across lutruwita/Tasmania upon which our Festival takes place.

For Creative Coast, two-time Emmy Award winner and visionary artist Lynette Wallworth will talk about her work as a filmmaker and the profound impact of three magnificent films Tender, Awavena and Collisions, each made in collaboration with a small community.

She notes that the stories of these small regional communities have inspired the world while expanding the horizons of local people. Expect an extraordinary keynote from Wallworth. Both electrifying and poetic, in her acceptance speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland (she was receiving the 2020 Crystal Award for global cultural achievement) she challenged climate-emergency-denying governments worldwide.
