Shifting World is an exhibition of selected artworks from the Devonport Regional Art Gallery created by some of the most respected artists in lutruwita/Tasmania.
The Devonport City Council’s Permanent Collection is rich and diverse and, since it began in 1966, has become a unique, vibrant and cumulative record of profound artistic activity within Tasmania.
This exhibition includes works by photo-media practitioner Pat Brassington, painter Nicholas Glade-Wright, ceramicist Jeff Mincham and printmaker Susan Pickering, among others. The selected works in this exhibition have one thing in common – they hold you. These enigmatic pieces speak to surrealist notions of space, yet where there is absence, suggest a void can be filled and a shift can happen.
