Women Of The Island is a collection of inspiring short films celebrating the lives of extraordinary women living in lutruwita/Tasmania.
Each gem of a film in this uplifting series introduces the viewer to a woman of substance in the Tasmanian environment that sustains her. See the captivating stories of a snake handler, an Olympic woodchopper, a neuroscientist, an artist, a policewoman, a weightlifter, a drover and more.
In our 2019 Festival, this international award-winning achievement by a team of brilliant Tasmanian filmmakers nourished our appetite for uniquely Tasmanian stories. Enjoy the films in an opening night Festival event alongside the world premiere of There Is No ‘I’ In Island, with both programs introduced by the artists.
