Reflections on Festival 2025
In the days following this year’s Ten Days on the Island, there has been much to dwell on in...
After three wonderful years at Ten Days on the Island, we bid farewell to our Executive Producer, Sally Richardson.
Following the conclusion of the recent 2025 Festival, Ten Days on the Island reviewed its staff structure and determined that it needed updating to align with our plans for future festivals. Unfortunately, this restructuring has led to the redundancy of the Executive Producer position.
We are immensely proud of all that Sally has accomplished. We are grateful for the expertise and professionalism she has brought to the Festival, as well as the support she has provided to the artists we work with. As Executive Producer, Sally has led two ambitious state-wide programs that have reached over 70,000 Tasmanians and made significant investments in our regional impact and the state’s cultural legacy.
“For those of us who are lucky to play a part within a festival, we know we are caretakers for a time of these extraordinary events that reach deep into community and sit alongside artists to develop and present transformative arts and cultural experiences. Sally is now part of the Ten Days on the Island story and we offer our heartfelt thanks for the contribution she has made; from her keen eye for the creation of new works to reaching out to communities across the island and creating opportunities for the development of arts workers in Lutruwita/Tasmania. I am personally grateful for her support after landing here almost two years ago to start my own journey with Ten Days on the Island.”
– Artistic Director, Marnie Kamalita
We are saddened to say goodbye and wish Sally the very best in her artistic practice and her ongoing role as one of Australia’s most experienced and respected arts leaders.
“I am proud and grateful to have worked with the Ten Days on the Island Festival. I have enjoyed collaborating with the wonderful Ten Days team to deliver two festivals with two outstanding artistic directors in Dr Lindy Hume AM and Marnie Karmelita. We have purposefully advocated for and generated opportunities for Tasmanian artists and companies, supporting, sustaining, and championing regional arts. I am excited about my next chapter that sees me embracing fresh creative opportunities in Australia and overseas.”
– Sally Richardson
As Ten Days on the Island undergoes restructuring, we will soon share more details as we prepare for exciting new festival adventures in 2027 and 2029. The Board, Marnie, and I are enthusiastic about the future and can’t wait to share more.
For now, we invite you to join us in thanking Sally for her incredible work over the past three years and to wish her all the best.
