Twenty three years ago, Ten Days on the Island emerged as Lutruwita/Tasmania’s first international arts festival, a visionary initiative by Premier Jim Bacon to celebrate thisland’s unique culture and creative spirit. Since its inception, Ten Days on the Island has been a beacon of artistic expression, community engagement, and cultural identity, showcasing the extraordinary talent of Tasmanian artists alongside national and international peers. We’ve brought over 1.5 million audience members together, creating moments of joy, reflection, and inspiration.
With your help last year, Ten Days on the Island invested a total of $1.12 million into new Tasmanian works and reached more than 36,000 people across the island. The festival premiered 11 new Tasmanian productions and commenced development on three more. Guided by the visionary leadership of our Artistic Director, Marnie Karmelita, we are navigating a path towards artistic brilliance and innovation. Our focus is on audience development and fostering meaningful partnerships to lay the foundation for a successful and impactful festival in March 2025.
Your support will help us create work with more Tasmanian artists and reach a wider audience right across the state. With artists at our core and audiences in our hearts, we’re committed to continually pushing the boundaries of artistic expression.
We can’t do this without you. Come and join us, your support as an individual, company or foundation will help us to create extraordinary experiences for Festival 2025.
