Ten Days on the Island is committed to making every effort to ensure our events and performances are accessible to everyone.
USERWAY ACCESS WIDGET

COMPANION CARDS
Companion Card holders are entitled to concession-priced tickets and a complimentary ticket for their companion.
MOBILITY ACCESS
WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE
The venue/location is fully wheelchair accessible. If this symbol is not displayed on the event page, access to the venue may be limited. Please contact Ten Days on the Island for further information.
LEVEL ACCESS
The event space and/or seating area can be accessed without encountering any stairs. Specifications of level access will be noted on each event page.
AURAL ACCESS
AUSLAN INTERPRETATION
The performance or event will be Auslan interpreted. An interpreter stands to one side of the stage and translates the dialogue or lyrics into Auslan.
ASSISTIVE LISTENING
The venue has assistive listening systems that provide hearing augmentation and amplification through dedicated headphones or a neck loop that interacts with hearing aid devices. Bookings are essential as places are limited.
OPEN CAPTIONING
The film will be captioned with a text display on screen of the performance in its entirety, including speech and other sounds.
CLOSED CAPTIONING
The film can be captioned with a text display on screen of the performance in its entirety, including speech and other sounds. The feature can be turned on and off by the user.
LANGUAGE NO BARRIER
The performance or event can be meaningfully engaged with by our hearing community, without a comprehensive understanding of the English language.
VISUAL ACCESS
VISUAL CONTENT RATINGS
The event does not contain any music, sound, or dialogue.
The event is fully subtitled or has minimal dialogue. There may become background music and/or sounds.
The event is partially subtitled or includes dialogue. There will be background music and/or sounds.
AUDIO DESCRIPTION
The performance or event will be audio described. Describers provide live, objective, verbal descriptions of all visual elements of the performance (such as actions, costumes, and scenery) between gaps in dialogue on stage via a personal headset. Bookings are essential.
TACTILE TOURS
Tactile Tours are available for patrons who are blind or have low vision and their companions can have a tactile exploration of some of the visual elements of a production, prior to an audio-described performance. Depending on the production, such elements could include the set, props, and costumes. Tours are free, but bookings are essential. The tour duration is 30 minutes, starting 1 hour prior to the show. ASSISTANCE DOGS
Ten Days on the Island recognises the essential role that Assistance Dogs play in supporting patrons with disability and acknowledges that accredited Assistance Dogs have full public access rights in line with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, including all our festival venues.
ASSISTANCE DOG FACILITIES
The venue has appropriate space for Assistance Dog toileting.
SENSORY ACCESS
RELAXED PERFORMANCES
Designed for anyone and everyone who may benefit from a more relaxed environment in a theatre, performance, or event space. Relaxed performances or sessions create a safe and welcoming environment for people who are autistic and neurodivergent, those with sensory sensitivities, learning disability, dementia, people living with anxiety or who have experienced trauma, and anyone who may feel unwelcome in a theatre or event space due to social protocols or not having attended previously.
Some small changes are made to sensory elements of the experience and there is a relaxed attitude to noise and movement. Theatre/venue doors are left open for patrons to move in and out of the space at any time and houselights are kept on and dimmed throughout the performance/experience. Patrons are welcome to bring and use stimming devices.
CHILL OUT SPACE
A space designed for anyone and everyone who may benefit from a space to calm and cope before, during and after a sensory stimulating experience. Chill out spaces create a safe and calming environment for people who are autistic and neurodivergent, those with sensory sensitivities, people living with anxiety or who have experienced trauma, and anyone who may feel overwhelmed by sensory stimulating experiences.
Chill out spaces will provide a private area away from the sensory experience with soft items to sit on, darkened areas, noise reduction devices and weighted items. Seating for companions will also be available outside the space.
ACCESS FACILITIES
GENDER-NEUTRAL BATHROOMS
The venue features bathroom facilities that are not separated by gender.
ADULT CHANGE FACILITIES
The venue is equipped with adult change facilities. Please refer to the venue notes for specifics on these facilities.
BABY CHANGE FACILITIES
The venue is equipped with a baby changing table and sufficient waste bins.
